About Us

Life has its ups and downs. And the downs can show up in many ways. Depression and anxiety. Trouble sleeping or staying motivated. Facing a loss or a major life change. Or just feeling disconnected and depressed. When things get tough, having the tools can make all the difference, both in how well you cope and how quickly you bounce back.

Brighter Day Psychiatry is a telehealth-based practice that provides medication management for various mental health conditions. We offer services to Maryland and Delaware residents, age 18 and up. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner , my goal is to help you get back on track and not just survive, but thrive. My approach to mental health care is client-centered and collaborative, which means we’re in this together! No one-size-fits-all approaches here. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that’s tailored to your specific needs, so you can start feeling better ASAP.

You may have expected this time of your life to be the happiest you’ve ever felt but find the opposite to be true. No matter what stage of the perinatal journey you’re in, it could be affecting your mental and physical health in ways you didn’t expect.

Your outlook on pregnancy and motherhood can improve under the skilled guidance of a perinatal mental health provider. Brighter Day Psychiatry is a telehealth based practice that provides medication for various perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. We have experience in supporting women who are trying to conceive, pregnant and postpartum. We offer a well-rounded and compassionate approach to mental health, looking at all aspects of your lifestyle before making any treatment recommendations. In addition to gathering a thorough medical, psychological, social, and perinatal history, we will also assess your sleep habits, nutritional intake, current stressors, and cultural and spiritual preferences before making recommendations. We provide a safe and judgement free space. Our continuous goal is to nurture, encourage, extend hope and contribute to your overall mental health and well-being.

Erika Stewart , MS, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner ( PMHNP-BC) with experience in treating individuals with various mental health conditions. My previous experience as a bedside nurse has enabled me to offer well-rounded holistic and compassionate mental health treatment. Even though I treat both men and women, I do specialize in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I have a perinatal mental health certification obtained by the Postpartum Support International. Additionally, I have experience working with women who are trying to conceive, pregnant, postpartum and who have experienced a perinatal loss.

I’m passionate about empowering individuals in becoming the best version of themselves. Moreover, I believe in taking a collaborative approach to helping clients reach their goals; while displaying warmth and kindness. I am happily married and a mother of two children. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family.
